Millennial Parents Initiative
Description:
The complex challenges of parenting today’s children and youth are no longer found primarily in single-parent homes. There is a significant amount of two-parent homes that also struggle with providing the necessary guidance needed for their children to exhibit responsible behaviors like honesty, compassion/respect, fairness, accountability, and courage; all the essential elements required to be socially productive.
The Millennial Parents Initiativewill provide the information and processes needed to empower the parents and their children. M.P.I. is a program and process needed to support Millennial Parents of school age children and teens between the ages of 8 to 16+ years of age. The initiative is designed to address the concerns involving adolescents and teens engaged in behaviors indicative of violence and future juvenile delinquency.
Millennial Parents Initiative will implement and provide the necessary guidance to assist parents who are concerned about the immediate future of their child and/or children. It is through this same initiative that parentswill be equipped to individually support their child/children for future positive life pathways while equipping each other cooperatively to help foster a thriving community for the proper development of their youth and/or adolescents.
M.P.I will conduct weekly virtual and/or in -person programs/workshops Monday thru Thursday and Saturday. The MPI’s goal is to engage and empower parents who are the biological, foster, adoptive or primary caregiver of a child/young person with significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. We will work directly with parents to help them to navigate life challenges by empowering them to have a voice and play a more effective role in all aspects of their children’s lives.
The following behaviors will be targeted:
Defiance / Unreasonable behavior / Low self-esteem / Misguided Anger / Disrespectful / Conflict Resolution / Failing in School / Lying / Impulsive / Rebellious / Gang Involvement
